prayer....our prophetic calling
Here is a link to a blog post by Mark Horne about prophets, friendship, intercessors, prayer etc. As Christians we are God's "best friends" and he will listen to our prayers...isn't that great!
He says:
"Access to God’s presence provides the opportunity for effective prayer........
Christians chosen to love one another and bear fruit–chosen in other words to “command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him”–are chosen to prophetically intercede with God. As his friends they stand in his council and he will do whatever they ask.
This is the prophetic calling that Christians have by being reconciled to God, not only to speak God’s word to the world, but to pray to God for the world. Among many other things we should pray for, as Prophets we should be interceding for sinners, both Christian and not, as our father Abraham the prophet and friend of God did before us."
